Silica Sandport Inc. is a Silica Quartz (Sand) mining and processing company, the largest in Guyana and the Caribbean, that produces sand for a variety of applications including for construction, golf courses beach nourishment and glass production.
It was founded in 2006 and has since been at the forefront of the sand mining industry, pioneering mining and processing technologies such as hydraulic mining and state-of-the-art grading and processing systems that can produce 99.7% pure SiO2.
This commitment to innovation and efficiency has resulted in Silica Sandport Inc. becoming the largest producer and exporter of Silica Quartz in Guyana and the Caribbean, which has earned it the title of the Best Sand Producer in Guyana two years in a row, 2020-21 and 2021-2022 – awarded by Guyana Geology and Mines Commission.
Silica Sandport Inc.’s mines and port are strategically located along the East Bank of the Demerara River less than 30 miles from Georgetown and can accommodate loading vessels of up to 10,000 DWT at speeds of 900 tons per hour. The company sits on approximately 1200 acres of sand-bearing land which holds over 300 million tons of proven silica sand reserves.
The current mine face is no more than 300 meters from the stockpile, which sits directly on the loading port. These factors all amalgamate into highly efficient mining processing to the loading process, ultimately allowing SSI to offer the most competitive prices in the market.
SSI is a wholly owned Limited Liability Guyanese Company and is managed by its principal shareholder, Mr. Hardesh Tewari, a UK trained Chartered Accountant and Entrepreneur of 25 plus years, and is supported by a strong and dedicated team of qualified and highly experienced managers. The company employs over 50 persons and continues to expand as it progresses along various value chains.
Pile Pro Inc.
Pile Pro Inc. is a construction and manufacturing company and sister company to Silica Sandport Inc. that produces pre-stressed concrete piles of varying lengths, sizes, and strengths depending on the requirements of the job, for the foundation of bridges, buildings, wharves, etc.
Being situated close to the SSI’s operation, Pile Pro has access to a ready supply of silica sand and other raw materials such as aggregates and cement through the privately owned port. The company has the capacity to produce 14, 16, and 18-inch (350, 400, and 450mm) Square Piles ranging in length from 30 to 100 feet.
FD Investments
FD Investments is a supplier of aggregates and other construction material and a provider of logistical services for bulk material transportation. This business is integrated with Silica Sandport Inc to capture value through backhauling cargo after the export of Silica Sand.
Fertech Inc.
Fertiliser Tech Inc. (Fertech) is an Agri-tech company aimed towards bridging the gap between agriculture, research and technology in our local and regional food systems.
Fertech produces a Customised Nutrient Blend that is both crop-specific and site-specific and which consists of both macro and micro nutrients for plantation crops, cash crops and orchards. This customised blend is based on detailed soils analysis and informed by research and in-house farm experiments and trials.
Laluni Farms Inc.
Laluni Farms Inc. is an agriculture company that specialises in the production of coconut water. Spanning 5,000 acres, our farms contain over 100,000 coconuts of the Dwarf Malaysian variety known for high water production.
Laluni Farms also grows and produces a variety of cash crops including fruits and vegetables including seedless limes, lemons, oranges, and peppers.
